The class is organized into teams who take turns being responsible for the week’s lesson. They are passionate about mission work, including their involvement in Wake Interfaith, Meals on Wheels, adoption of multiple families at Christmas, and sponsorship of a church scholarship. The class enjoys fellowship together through regular socials with many strong friendships and lots of laughter.

Nelson Demographics: Members range in age from 30’s to 40’s, married with children, babies to teens. This class focuses on life application of biblical concepts and strives to support and nurture one another in their Christian walk. Class members volunteer to teach as they are able. The class describes itself as excited, close-knit, very involved, uplifting, and welcoming. Members gather for bi- monthly socials and are involved in various mission projects throughout the church and community. Faith Class Room: 332 Contact: Michael Highsmith ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it / 834-7872) Current Study: Parables Recent Study: What Jesus Meant, by Garry Wills Demographics: Age range of members is mid-30’s to mid-40’s, married with children and single parents. Current issues are discussed through a variety of mediums including videos, books, and group discussion. Class members volunteer as leaders. This class is for someone who is interested in an energetic, nonjudgmental, informal atmosphere where current issues related to faith are discussed. The class also enjoys gathering for organized socials as well as participating in church directed missions.

There is one dedicated teacher who leads the class in big and small group discussion, with an occasional guest teacher. The class promotes strong fellowship through family socials, men’s and women’s luncheons, and many other activities.
The Promise Class Room: 316 Contact: Sara Locklear ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it / 818-0535) Current Study: Jesus' Last Week, ed by Cindy Bunch (LifeGuide Bible Study) Recent Study: Angels, by Douglas Connelly (LifeGuide Bible Study) Demographics: Intergenerational class, married and single, with children and without. This class is for anyone who is looking for God’s truths and promises in His written word and who desires to draw closer to the Lord and claim His promises through the study of His Word. The focus of the class is studying and learning more about God and Jesus Christ through a variety of studies using the Bible as the foundation. Class members volunteer to facilitate a month at a time.
The Seekers Class Room: 322 Contact: Horace Johnson ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it / 881-0952) Current Study: Spiritual Classics, by Richard Foster Demographics: Age 50-plus, some are retired, and/or empty nesters A mixture of lecture and discussion with class members volunteering as facilitator. Curriculum is suggested with members selecting from agreed-upon resources. Occasional guest speakers. The class is mission-oriented, and the class mission statement involves growing as Disciples of Christ. The class is very friendly, with great humor, and they enjoy fellowship, mission work, and social activities several times during the year. The class meets from 9:45 to 10:45 each Sunday. Eight qualified teachers share the class responsibilities on a rotating basis providing a meaningful Christian experience through lessons and group discussion. Several socials provide fellowship throughout the year and class members’ birthdays are recognized. Wesleyan Fellowship Class Room: 328/330 Contact: Andy McDaniel ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it / 872-3191) On-going Study: International Bible Series Demographics: Empty nesters, retirees, younger couples with children, and singles. Inspired and insightful lecture followed by questions and comments with teacher Tom Graves. This is a very well attended class comprised of interesting individuals of various ages and backgrounds. Class members are loving, compassionate, and fun! |
