Adult Contemporary Class (ACC)

Demographics: Various adult ages

This class focuses on current issues and contemporary subjects with lively discussions. The class is organized into teams who take turns being responsible for the week’s lesson. They are passionate about mission work, including their involvement in Wake Interfaith, Meals on Wheels, adoption of multiple families at Christmas, and sponsorship of a church scholarship. The class enjoys fellowship together through regular socials with many strong friendships and lots of laughter.


 

Asbury/King Fellowship

On-going Study: International Bible Series
Demographics: Age 55-plus, both married and single, retired with grown children

Bible-based with discussion, with class members volunteering as teacher for a month at a time. The class describes itself as committed, organized, funny, and welcoming. They enjoy fellowship and offer a warm, loving, pleasing environment that is very comfortable to be in.


 

Cameron Class

On-going Study: International Bible Series
Demographics: Various adult ages

Several designated class members rotate as leader of this class with presentation followed by questions and comments. This is a very welcoming class with a family-like environment. Beyond Sunday morning, they enjoy activities together outside of church.


 

Cornerstone Class

Recent Study: The Beatitudes for Today, by James C. Howell; Living the Psalms, by Maxie Dunnam
Demographics: Class members range in age from mid-30’s to mid-50’s, most married with children.

In-depth study and stimulating discussion of Biblical issues and questions. Class members volunteer as the leader/facilitator. The class describes itself as active, thoughtful with great participation/involvement and discussion. Their ultimate goal is seeking to learn more about God through study of the Bible.

 


 

Covenant Class

Recent Study: Making Love Last a LIfetime: Biblical Perspectives on Love, Marriage, and Sex, video based study by Adam Hamilton
Demographics: Members range in age from 30’s to 40’s, married with children, babies to teens.

This class focuses on life application of biblical concepts and strives to support and nurture one another in their Christian walk. Class members volunteer to teach as they are able. The class describes itself as excited, close-knit, very involved, uplifting, and welcoming. Members gather for bi- monthly socials and are involved in various mission projects throughout the church and community.

Current Study:
Recent Study: Parables: The Greatest Stories Ever Told, by John White; Christianity and World Religions, by Adam Hamilton
Demographics: Age range of members is mid-30’s to mid-40’s, married with children and single parents.

Current issues are discussed through a variety of mediums including videos, books, and group discussion. Class members volunteer as leaders. This class is for someone who is interested in an energetic, nonjudgmental, informal atmosphere where current issues related to faith are discussed. The class also enjoys gathering for organized socials as well as participating in church directed missions.

 


 

Koinonia Class

Recent Study: Living Your Strengths by Winseman, Clifton and Liesveld
Demographics: Single adults of various ages including never-married, divorced, and widowed.

A mission and study oriented class, whose name is Greek meaning Christian community and fellowship, especially interested in ministering to other single adults. Emphasis is on offering hospitality, grace, and an environment where people can be real and know that they are very much a part of our church family. We will study scripture and other works offering hope and blessings for the journey. The class searches Scripture offering hope and blessings as they journey together.


 

New Life

Demographics: Class members are generally in their 20’s or 30’s, some with children

This class focuses on a variety of subjects including current issues, books of the Bible, and life applications. There is one dedicated teacher who leads the class in big and small group discussion, with an occasional guest teacher. The class promotes strong fellowship through family socials, men’s and women’s luncheons, and many other activities.

 


 

The Promise Class

Recent Study: Jesus' Last Week, ed by Cindy Bunch (LifeGuide Bible Study)
Demographics: Intergenerational class, married and single, with children and without.

This class is for anyone who is looking for God’s truths and promises in His written word and who desires to draw closer to the Lord and claim His promises through the study of His Word. The focus of the class is studying and learning more about God and Jesus Christ through a variety of studies using the Bible as the foundation. Class members volunteer to facilitate a month at a time.

 


     

The Seekers Class

Current Study: Spiritual Classics, by Richard Foster
Demographics: Age 50-plus, some are retired, and/or empty nesters

A mixture of lecture and discussion with class members volunteering as facilitator. Curriculum is suggested with members selecting from agreed-upon resources. Occasional guest speakers. The class is mission-oriented, and the class mission statement involves growing as Disciples of Christ. The class is very friendly, with great humor, and they enjoy fellowship, mission work, and social activities several times during the year.




Starnes Special Ministries Class

Demographics: Older youth and adults with developmental disabilities

This class offers a ministry with persons who have developmental disabilities, including older youth and adults. The class meets from 9:45 to 10:45 each Sunday. Eight qualified teachers share the class responsibilities on a rotating basis providing a meaningful Christian experience through lessons and group discussion. Several socials provide fellowship throughout the year and class members’ birthdays are recognized.




Wesleyan Fellowship Class

On-going Study: International Bible Series
Demographics: Empty nesters, retirees, younger couples with children, and singles.

Inspired and insightful lecture followed by questions and comments with teacher Tom Graves. This is a very well attended class comprised of interesting individuals of various ages and backgrounds. Class members are loving, compassionate, and fun!
