  • Music and Arts  ( 4 items )

God is the ultimate Creator. And in each of us, made in God’s image, there is a desire to express ourselves creatively and through the arts. At Hayes Barton UMC the arts ministry seeks to provide a means for members to use their creative gifts to the glory of God. Through music, drama, and the visual arts, individuals can praise and worship God with the beauty of sight and sound.

Music is an integral part of Hayes Barton UMC worship and church life. Members embrace a diverse, eclectic mix of hymns, praise songs, choral music, instrumental solos and accompaniment, children’s anthems, and pieces by handbell choirs. At weekly services and at special events presented throughout the year, our music program enhances the worship experience of all who attend.

The dramatic and visual arts also play a key role in worship at Hayes Barton UMC. Large-scale musicals and plays, dramatic sketches within services, and integration of visual art pieces that elucidate liturgical themes are presented throughout the year to inspire and challenge worshippers.

  • Prayer  ( 10 items )
Jesus PrayingIn Luke 19:46, Jesus said, "My house shall be a house of prayer." It is the fervent hope and goal of the Prayer Ministry Committee that this statement would be true for Hayes Barton United Methodist Church. We believe that prayer has a powerful effect on our world. James 5:16 teaches us that "the prayers of a righteous man are powerful and effective." When we pray, it truly makes a difference in the lives of those we pray for and draws us closer to the Lord.

Our Purpose: To provide opportunities and encourage church members to grow in their prayer life and relationship with the Lord; to be more intentional about praying for one another, the concerns of the church, the community and our world.
