01 Our Community
“I was hungry and you fed me, thirsty and you gave me a drink.”

Race of Grace
A 5K road race and walk through downtown Raleigh organized to bring focus to three important areas of need in our community - healthcare, homelessness, and hunger - on a rotating basis. In 2007, those who lack adequate healthcare will benefit from the Race of Grace. The race is the last Sunday of April.

Crop Walk
Neighbors walking together to take a stand against hunger in our world. Together we raise awareness and funds for international relief and development, as well as local hunger-fighting.

Rex Blood Drive
One day per year HBUMC sponsors the Bloodmobile at our church. Make a difference in someone’s life. Donate today.Image

Meals On Wheels
Volunteers deliver lunches to shut-ins on the 2nd Friday of each month.

Society of St. Andrews Gleaning
One Saturday per year, volunteers from HBUMC participate in gleaning. Gleaning is a traditional Biblical practice of gathering crops that would otherwise be left in the field to rot or be plowed under after harvest. The food that is gleaned is then given to the poor at no cost to them.

Helen Wright Center Meals
The Helen Wright Center for Women (part of Urban Ministries of Wake County) works to reduce homelessness by providing temporary housing and support services in a program to promote independence. Once per month an HBUMC Sunday School class or small group prepares and serves an evening meal at this shelter.

Thanksgiving Food Truck
Every year at Thanksgiving, volunteers provide a complete Thanksgiving dinner to over 65 families in Wake County.

Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network
Helps homeless families. Three times a year HBUMC provides overnight housing at the church and three meals per day for a one-week period.
