Relief for Haiti Overview

Thank you for your passionate and generous response to the tragic earthquake in Haiti. Together, we have collected food, tarps, blankets, medical supplies, crutches and canes as well as thousands of dollars for the people of Haiti. The Raleigh District warehouse is closed as of April 3, 2010. If you would like to donate items to the relief effort, please contact Laura Fine Ledford ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) as these items will now be collected at the MERCI Center in Goldsboro.

If you would like to support the Haiti relief efforts with financial contributions, please consider the following:

The ongoing Quarter of a Meal-lion project in partnership with Stop Hunger Now, which has already packaged over 100,000 meals. Many of our remaining meals will also be sent to Haiti. Our next packaging event will take place on June 5th at Triangle Town Center Mall. We plan to package 100,000 meals on this day and financial contributions are needed to make this goal a reality. You may contribute by making checks to HBUMC with "Quarter of a Meal-lion" in the memo line, or directly to this effort below.

Hayes Barton's Early Response Team (ERT) just returned from Haiti April 15-19th. They assisted in the demolition of the original St. Joseph Home for Boys and visited the other homes of the St Joe's Family: Wings of Hope and Trinity House, bringing a message of love and hope from the members of Hayes Barton. This recon team was able to gather much information that will be invaluable, not only to additional recovery teams from Hayes Barton, but also to teams from other churches around the country that are slated to assist. You can help with contributions designated for this effort below or by making checks payable to HBUMC with "Missions-Disaster Relief" in the memo line.
