2010 Quarter of Meal-lion Project

One Hunger...One World...One Church...One Year…


Our Mission: To join Stop Hunger Now to end hunger within our lifetime


Our Goals:
  • Package 250,000 meals in 2010
  • Raise $62,500 to pay for these meals


Our Progress to Date: (Updated June 2010)
  • Total Money Raised to Date = $55,155
  • Total Meals Packaged to Date = 179,936

 



Hunger Facts:
  • There are nearly 850 million hungry people in the world
  • A child dies every 15 seconds because of malnourishment
  • There is enough food in the world to feed everyone 4.3 pounds of food every day
Volunteering Facts:
  • On average: 100 meals per hour per volunteer
  • Packaging and fundraising are intergenerational activities. There are jobs for every age!
Financial Contributions are needed! Please consider coordinating your own fundraising project for this event.

Some ideas for raising money include:
  • organize a yard sale
  • coordinate a "walk-a-thon" with your friends and have people sponsor $0.25 for every quarter mile walked
  • ask your favorite restaurant to put out a collection box for coins for our cause
  • solicit support from your co-workers/company to make a financial contribution to our project
  • place $1/day in a jar for the remainder of the Lenten Season
  • continue to bring your loose change (preferably quarters) to church and place in the Quarter Meallion Collection Box in the Lobby.
