Paul reminds us to give thanks to God for the wondrous gift of Jesus Christ, who not only saves us from eternal death, but also from ourselves. The great Scot preacher, James Stewart, once wrote that “if, as Christians, we hope to grow in grace and walk the way of faith and hope and love, the prior condition is that our own life should be intertwined with that of Jesus.”
