What Do You Want for Christmas?
Written by Rick Clayton
Sunday, 16 December 2007

What do you want? The question, when God asks it, strips us bare. So often our wants are a disguise to conceal what we truly need. We want so many things, but we are not so good at saying what we need. To declare, “I need,” is to stand naked, vulnerable, and to know that there is so much we long for which we cannot simply provide for ourselves or give each other in this season when we give so much. It is embarrassing. It is discomfiting. Jesus comes as one who disturbs our peace.
