Sermon - "Open Our Eyes, Lord"
Written by Rick Clayton
Sunday, 25 October 2009

Sometimes we shut the door to God. We can either invite people into God's presence, introduce them to Christ; or we, by our own blindness, by our own smallness of spirit, can be an obstacle to another person's search for wholeness and a life of faith. Some people who followed Jesus would have kept Bartimaeus right where he was - blind and begging from those pilgrims on their way to Jerusalem to worship God. We, who know Jesus, can either welcome people into his presence or we can say, in countless little ways, "Be silent. He does not have time for the likes of you."
