Worship

Worship is an integral part of Christian life at Hayes Barton Methodist Church. God is praised; God's Word is read and proclaimed; and God's love, comfort and grace is made new through Holy Communion. Participants are charged to go forth and live as disciples of Christ.

Traditional worship services are Sunday at 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. The contemporary praise and worship service, called Lighthouse, is Sunday at 8:45 a.m. Special services of music, word and table are offered during Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter. Each worship service offers a children's message. Nursery care is provided for all services including pagers for parents of infants.

Holy Communion is celebrated the first Sunday of every month in both Traditional and Lighthouse Contemporary worship. All professing Christians are welcome to the Lord's Table. Administers either have communicants come to the altar and kneel to receive the Eucharist or serve by intinction—dipping the bread into the wine. The Peace of the Lord is shared among service participants during these services as a sign of reconciliation and love.

Four ministers guide Hayes Barton: a senior minister, an associate minister for spiritual formation and congregational care; an associate minister of Christian education, and a Pastor Emeritus. They facilitate Bible Studies, special worship services, Stephen Ministries, mission studies and leadership. Each takes part in hospital, nursing home and in-home visitations.
