Dramatic arts

HBUMC has a unique focus on drama and the visual arts, using these art forms in worship to further enhance communion with our Creator. Church members have produced, developed, and starred in many productions such as “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”, a Madrigal dinner, and the “Christmas Mosaic” featuring live interpretations of famous paintings along with choral and handbell music, a tree-lighting, and live Nativity. Last year, the first act of the West End musical “Children of Eden” played to sold-out houses. Scenes from the show are pictured here. The Hayes Barton Methodist community worked together to compile a mosaic illustrating and celebrating the important times of our lives in a piece designed by Daniel Kelly of Clearscapes (a Raleigh architecture firm) called “Defining Moments”. The piece is on display in our church’s narthex.

Upcoming dramatic presentations include:
  • Pete and Andy sketches at LightHouse services - ongoing
  • “Children of Eden” part II
